For World Mental Health Day 2019, we packed our coworking space with a day full of events aimed at supporting mental wellbeing. Open to members and non-members, our schedule included an insightful talk on nutrition, workplace massages, mindfulness and vision workshops, and our usual meet + walk and lunchtime yoga, with all proceeds donated to Bristol Mind, a mental health resource for people in Bristol and surrounding areas.

After the day we were overwhelmed by the supportive messages and feedback from our members and by the positive messages shared to break down the stigma surrounding mental health.

Since we love an inspirational quote here at Origin Workspace, it only seemed right that we share a selection of our favourites from #WMHD.

“Happiness is a journey not a destination”

“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”

“Mental illness is NOT a personal failure.”

“Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations”

“You’re not alone”

This #worldmentalhealthday we want each one of you to know that you’re not alone! ⠀ ⠀ We’re all about community here – we’re all joined by common interests, feelings and values and have much more in common than we think.⠀ ⠀ Reaching out and just having a chat with someone can do so much – from friends, family and other supportive networks, to likeminded people online, to trained professionals like councillors. Just talking through things and getting it out of your head can be SO helpful, depending on what works for you.⠀ ⠀ This day is also a great reminder to be kind to yourself and others, the date is 10/10 but it’s unrealistic to be always be feeling 10/10! It’s ok not to be ok – feelings come and go and we all have them.⠀ ⠀ We’re dedicating today to an open dialogue on mental health – what tips would you give someone else who wants to chat? How do you look after yourself?⠀ ⠀ #lucyandyakcommunity

The last quote really rang true as it’s one of the fundamental reasons why we started Origin Workspace. Entrepreneurship can be a lonely place, that’s why we want our coworking space to always be a place of collaboration, support, and growth.
