As we head into the last chapter of 2026, Winter helps us change the way we feel about our working routines. We might spend less time outdoors, see fewer friends during the week, or find ourselves moving between home and work with little time in between. When work gets busy, it’s easy to overlook the small interactions and healthy habits that make our days feel a little brighter.

But work isn’t just about the tasks we tick off or the meetings in our calendars. It’s also about the people we share our days with, the environments we spend time in and how we look after ourselves along the way. Here are a few ways to support your wellbeing and feel more connected throughout the winter months.

  1. Make time for the little things
Sometimes, it’s the smallest interactions that have the biggest impact. A quick chat while making a coffee, a friendly hello in the morning or chatting to us about the latest episode of The Traitors… WE ARE HOOKED!
  1. Get moving, even when it’s cold outside
When the weather turns, motivation to exercise can quickly disappear. But regular movement can help support your mood, energy levels and overall wellbeing.
You don’t need to commit to a full workout in our Gym to feel the benefits. A lunchtime walk on Brandon Hill, or taking the stairs instead of the lift, are all simple ways to introduce more movement into your day.
  1. Give yourself permission to switch off
As the year draws to a close, deadlines, end-of-year targets and Christmas plans can leave us feeling stretched. When your to-do list seems endless, taking a break can feel counterproductive – but working continuously isn’t always the most productive approach. Stepping away from your desk gives you time to reset, helping you return to tasks with a clearer head.
  1. Find your people
Working through winter can feel isolating, particularly if most of your day is spent working independently or remotely. Building relationships outside your immediate team can be just as valuable. Meeting people from different industries, exchanging ideas and discovering shared interests can introduce new perspectives and opportunities.
  1. Create a working environment that lifts your mood
Your surroundings can influence how you feel about your working day. Natural light, comfortable spaces, a change of scenery and opportunities to interact with others can all contribute to a more positive working environment.
  1. Make wellbeing part of your working week
Looking after yourself doesn’t need to mean making big lifestyle changes. Often, it’s about building small, sustainable habits into your routine and finding opportunities to do things that help you feel good.

At Origin Workspace, wellbeing is part of the working day. From Yoga, Pilates and HIIT sessions to our Run Club and opportunities to connect through member breakfasts, lunches and monthly networking socials, there are plenty of ways to find a little balance alongside your working life. It’s about having opportunities to move, connect and take time for yourself, without having to look too far beyond your workplace.

Make the rest of 2026 a little brighter

We can’t change the weather or make the days any longer, but we can make small choices that help working days feel brighter.
Get outside when you can. Move a little more. Take a proper break. Make time for the people around you. And remember that looking after yourself is just as important as getting things done.

Because a positive working life isn’t just about productivity. It’s about feeling good, finding balance and being part of a community where connections can grow.

Beyond your desk
Wellbeing isn’t just about what happens during the working day. Making time for things you enjoy outside the office is just as important. Whether it’s live music, trying a new coffee shop or catching up with friends, having something to look forward to can help break up the winter routine.

We find that scheduling in a little fun can make all the difference. Why not go to a comedy night or find out who’s coming to the Bristol Beacon? From independent venues to live entertainment and seasonal events, there’s always something happening. We love having a gander at the Bristol Beacon calendar, Visit Bristol and What’s on Bristol.
