We caught up with Amanda Clapp, Head of Service Delivery at Bud Systems, to talk about her role, working out of Origin Workspace and living in Bristol.
Bud is an intuitive and simple to use Apprenticeship Management Platform. It has been designed as a complete solution for the management and delivery of apprenticeships and helps to drive best practice across our clients’ organisations. It supports all aspects of successful apprenticeship delivery, including learning, funding and management in order to overcome many of the challenges provider face across the sector.
As the Head of Service Delivery, my focus is very much on the users of our system, both internal and external. We want to know that they are enjoying the benefits of using the system and that it is doing what we promised it would do. If things don’t go to plan, then we want to ensure that they are dealt with as efficiently as possible.
Being part of the Origin community has allowed me to meet people from different backgrounds and a variety of interests. I cycled 65km in the Tour de Bristol (For St Peter’s Hospice) because I learned about the event from a group of my fellow Origin Workspace colleagues.
There is a real energy around the place and that’s infectious. It creates a really positive working environment that makes work feel more like fun.
I have met lots of really interesting people, including Emma Durkin who organises holidays to wild and remote regions of the world, and Francis Ondoro from recruitment agency TruePositive.

Run Club is a really supportive group of novice and experienced runners who really enjoy getting together and encouraging people. If getting sweaty outdoors isn’t your thing, then there is always table tennis to get you active at lunch time – Jim and Mike have both given me lessons.
Bud is all about reducing the administrative burden of apprenticeship delivery and creating more time for trainers to train and business leaders to run their organisations, thereby making the most efficient use of apprenticeship funding.
I am lucky enough to walk to work and so I am guaranteed a good start to each day. Because the office space is open 24/7, I have the flexibility to adjust my hours to meet other domestic and social commitments. I have just come back from a lunch time swim on Clifton Triangle and I love being able to use the onsite gym without even leaving the building!
Bristol is a great city; full of caring and passionate people. It’s really great to be working for a purpose led business like Bud and there are so many opportunities to contribute to the community, volunteering, fund raising and generally raising awareness of the good work being done by organisations in and around the city.
