10th May 2018

At Origin Workspace, we want to help local business talent succeed by building an active community for entrepreneurs and start-up and scale-up businesses. We have a packed schedule of regular Bristol business networking events that are open to everyone with an interest in growing their business and meeting like-minded people.

We know that as busy entrepreneurs and business owners, your time is precious and it͛s important the events you attend are relevant, targeted and meet your specific needs. That’s why we recently carried out a survey to discover the topics you are keen to learn more about and the Bristol business networking events you want to attend.

The results made for interesting reading. You told us that you’d love to attend events that focus on core business skills, such as writing business plans and learning how to negotiate more effectively. But you’d also like to develop some of the softer skills which include learning to manage the work/life balance better and getting to grips with how to network more effectively.

Following your feedback, we’ve created the Origin Workspace ‘Secrets of Business Success’ event series. And we’re delighted to kick off the series with ‘How to become a more confident and effective networker,’ presented by Melissa Kidd.

Melissa, an experienced entrepreneur and professional, will be sharing her knowledge of how to get the most out of networking. While creating new opportunities and building relationships can be exciting, many people find the process of networking daunting, uncomfortable and frustrating.

Melissa attended many networking events when she was starting out in her career and really struggled to gain success. She will be sharing the mistakes she made, so we can learn from them!

If you’ve ever been to a networking event but didn’t get much out of it, if you are unsure about how to approach a group of strangers, or politely move on from a conversation, then this workshop is for you.

You’ll learn how to prepare for an event, approach people with confidence, how to have an
effective five step networking conversation and learn how to follow up after an event to develop a relationship.

This event is ideal for entrepreneurs, freelancers or those running small businesses who are seeking the skills to raise their profile, talk about their new venture in a way that͛s meaningful and memorable and spot new business opportunities.

Melissa will be sharing her shortcuts to success by giving us easy, practical advice to make networking easier. If you want to find out more about Melissa’s business journey, we grabbed five minutes to talk everything networking, business and career goals.

Join us at Origin Workspace, 40 Berkeley Square, Clifton at 9am on Thursday 17th May. There will be plenty of time to put your new skills to the test and network with other attendees. You’ll also get to enjoy complimentary coffee/tea and pastries before and after Melissa’s presentation. Numbers are limited to 30 attendees.

You can buy your ticket now here. If you have any questions for Melissa or the team, feel free to tweet us on the night using @OriginWorkspace.

We are dedicated to creating an events programme that will serve small and scaling businesses in the area, so if you are interested in learning more about a topic or have a keynote speaker you would like to suggest, please get in touch with our team using the contact form or use the comments to let us know.
